The Newfoundland Black Bear is considered North America's largest species of Black Bear. Biologists believe these island bears have a genetic predisposition to large body size. Wildlife officials have captured and released a 687 pound animal. Bears over 500 pounds are often taken by sportsmen with some animals weighing in up to 670 pounds. An estimated 14,000 mighty bruins roam the Island of Newfoundland. The bears' predatory status conditions the animals to become both clever and stealthy. The size, stealth, and intelligence of the bears combine to give even experienced outdoorsmen a challenging hunt. Our own guides refer to the bears as "Dark Ghosts".
Mobile Outfitters offers baited hunts from safe, secure tree stands, and the unique opportunity for a dozen sightings from the same stand. All hunters are provided with saftey belts. Bowhunters will have a clear of 15 to 20 yards; gun hunters will be slightly further away.
Note: Bowhunters and gun hunters do not hunt in the same area.
We set and maintain between 40 and 50 baits, and cater to 6 to 8 hunters per week, to a maximum of 32 per season. Hunts are available during spring and fall seasons and generally have a success rate of 85% kills.
Why not combine your spring hunt with a fishing adventure?
